Cultivating success growing a legacy

Here at Rakaia Island, we’re farmers in every sense of the word – we look after each other, the land, our animals and the community that we live in. We might be biased, but we think we live and work in paradise; framed by the Rakaia River, bound by the Canterbury Plains.

Our herd, on this land, produces some of the best dairy in the world. This is made possible by our dedicated/committed team out in the paddocks every day. We’ve been farming here for 30 years and what we know is that our people are key to everything we do. So, we’ve set up our farms to support our farming teams and ensure that they have what we need to be successful. This means we can create opportunities for both our people and our business to continue growing, and doing this is really the key to sustainable farming.

We are all proud farmers

We are a family business, with strong ties to the Ellesmere area. Like most kiwis, we don’t like to talk about ourselves too much! But one thing we will say is that we’re really proud of our people and we’re proud to be farmers. Our team comprises people from several different countries and backgrounds, bringing and blending expertise and experience to what we do – and that’s to take care of each other, our animals and the land we work on.
